It doesn't lie on that part. It goes behind the white part, but we still don't know how far the black part is, and I'd guess it's somewhat far. Anyways, to answer all your "why can't we go there" questions, remember that all the layers must follow the "Ҵ" shape, we can go only to these rooms or it would disrupt the logic of the game.

Ok, see the shape of the main "mountain" (where the dishes are)? it is curved in a weird way, right?

I think that shape keeps repeating and surrounding the place, forming the grey "mountain" that we see over there. We can even see the weird prominence of the upper part (it looks like a crater XD).

In some places it is broken and it reveals a black cave with white stalactites. And in some other places there appears to be some sort of wall, probably acting as a city wall for the ancient civilization that lived there. In many archaeological sites there are walls like that, if I remember well.

But all this is just my deductions, of course

It used to be the "bunny," but Mateusz altered it, so perhaps it's a caveman. After all, there are other cave paintings.

5) It's a chasm seperating us and that part of the landscape. It only looks like the mountain is on both sides, but I believe the dark space is some part of another mountain across a chasm.

And besides, Mateusz would need to add a "forward" direction (like entering rooms) in order to go there, and that would break the whole "Layer scheme" that Mateusz was showing us. It's like asking why we couldn't go above the ladder in Layer 6.
